Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders (MONL) Leadership Scholarship Awards
The Maryland Organization of Nurse Leaders scholarship awards aims to support students in attaining their nursing academic goals. Two scholarships will be awarded: The Emerging Leader Undergraduate Scholarship and the Visionary Leader Graduate Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 each.
Scholarship Overview
- Scholarships are awarded on an annual basis. These scholarships are a one-time award per recipient.
- Completed applications will be accepted via the online application until Monday, September 23, 2024 at 11:59pm.
- Official transcript of last semester of education completed must be included.
- Applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision no later than Friday, October 18, 2024.
- Applicants are required to be present at the MONL Scholarship Gala and Annual Award Ceremony Event on November 16, 2024, 4pm-8pm. Scholarship recipients will be asked to share a few words at the gala. Two tickets will be provided for the scholarship recipients and their guests.
Criteria for Selection of Scholarship Recipients
- Undergraduate nursing students, whether enrolled in associate or bachelor's degree programs, must be in their sophomore, junior, or the start of their senior year of nursing school . Graduate students must have at least one semester of study remaining in their program.
- Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Applicants must be a permanent resident of Maryland.
- Scholarships will be awarded based on:
- Academic achievement
- 1- page typed essay
- Two professional letters of reference
Timetable
September 23, 2024- Online application deadline
October 18, 2024- Recipients of scholarship awards notified
November 16, 2024- Presentation of Awards
Essay (Required): Compose an essay that describes why you chose to be a registered nurse and how you will make a difference in our profession. Maximum length: one typed double-spaced page.
Letters of Reference (Required): Obtain and attach two signed letters of reference to your online application. Reference letters should be addressed to the MONL scholarship committee and should provide insight into your passion for nursing, leadership, patient care, work ethic, values and scholarship need.
Application Checklist: Your application is complete only when you have submitted all the following materials: Please do not send photos of completed items.
- Electronic Application
- Typed and completed essay
- Two (2) professional letters of reference
- Obtain an official college transcript
- Proof of current enrollment
- Commitment to attend the Scholarship Gala
Complete application package must be submitted by deadline of September 23, 2024.
